Having lost to Buckie Thistle in the League Cup, City headed back to Victoria Park hoping to put things right in the Scottish Cup – and couldn’t have started any worse when the Highland League side took the lead in the opening minutes.

City responded through Sinclair but that was short-lived as Buckie went in at the break 2-1 up.

Manager Darren Dods changed things in the second half by bringing on Isaac Layne, and that proved to be the clincher. Layne scored moments after coming on, then also struck the winner.

Following Monday afternoon’s draw, City now have a lucrative money-spinning tie away to Celtic at Celtic Park.
