Inverness Caley Thistle Cup memories revived

-

The Scottish Cup draw always brings back memories. Those of us who supported Caley or Thistle pre-merger had the Qualifying Cup from which the top four sides entered the Scottish Cup proper. There were a few giant-killing games and glamour visits to Celtic Park and Ibrox. In 1996 Caledonian Thistle pulled out a home tie against Rangers. We were not allowed to host in Inverness, so the game was moved to Tannadice. Watching Paul Gascoigne in his heyday remains a thrill! No one imagined that less than 20 years later we would lift the trophy itself.

Now we dream of trips to non-league and lower league clubs so we again can experience the romance of the cup. It didn’t happen this time, but a trip to Dens Park is certainly winnable.
