An employment law, HR, and health and safety firm with offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow has posted an increase in full-year income as it targets double-digit growth. It also confirmed that its chief executive left the company.

Law At Work said turnover in the year to 31 May showed a 9 per cent year-on-year jump to reach £2.54 million. Core earnings, however, fell by the same percentage to £370,000, with the fall attributed to oneoff professional fees and integration costs related to its “substantial” acquisition last year of Square Circle HR.

It also said the deal boosted its existing human resources consultancy offering, complementing its legal and health and safety work, with a “significant” uplift in tribunals and more activity by claimants after fees were abolished.

The firm, which has more than 380 retained clients across the UK, and 34 staff with plans to grow the team, also said it continued to expand its client base across retail, education and the third sector, with five promotions across the business accompanied by two senior hires.

Chairman Magnus Swanson said: “We are very pleased that 2017/18 has got off to a flying start with the full impact of the combined businesses being realised.

“We have also noticed greater confidence amongst our clients in committing to new contracts… we anticipate double-digit growth in our top line in 2017/18.”

Additionally, the company said chief executive Jane Wright left the company in August, having overseen seven years of major growth. 0 Magnus Swanson chairs the firm that started in 2001
