Mastercard deepens relationship with CYBG

- By MARTIN FLANAGAN

Mastercard and CYBG are to extend their partnership, with the Clydesdale Bank owner switching all of its remaining Visa credit cards to Mastercard.

The seven-year agreement means that all the bank’s debit, credit and commercial cards will use the Mastercard network.

The two organisations said the move would mean they could offer additonal payment solutions, “protect customers against fraud and create a better banking experience”.

Mastercard said the new agreement would also apply to CYBG’S Yorkshire Bank and “B” brands, the latter being a digital banking service.

Mark Barnett, divisional president for Mastercard UK & Ireland, said: “Our renewed agreement will see us issuing even more Mastercard cards in the UK, as well as focusing on security and fraud solutions so that CYBG customers can benefit from some of our newest innovations.”

Earlier this year Mastcercard announced it was increasing its issuance of debit cards in the UK with TSB.
