Lawrie lifted by his visit to see top doctor

- By MARTIN DEMPSTER

Paul Lawrie is hopeful he will be back playing regularly again next season after finally getting to the bottom of the injury that has plagued him in recent years.

The Aberdonian’s optimism comes on the back of his trip to Munich last week to visit Dr Hans-wilhelm Mullerwohlfahrt, who was recommended to Lawrie by Jose Maria-olazabal.

“It turns out I have a herniated disc in my back and some blockages down my back on the left side. That was causing the problems, also the fact my ankles were extremely tight,” said Lawrie.

“So they put together a programme for five days to set about fixing everything. I had loads of injections in my back and also quite a few in my ankles to loosen up the area that are tight and I certainly feel better, which is good.

“I have a programme of exercises/stretches to do, so let’s hope I can get back to playing full-time next season.”
