Celtic star to face speeding charge

Celtic footballer Leigh Griffiths will stand trial accused of a speeding offence committed just days before his sensational World Cup qualifier double against England.

The star is alleged to have been driving his four-litre Mercedes AMG C63 at 62mph on Dundee’s Kingsway on June 3 this year. The speed limit on the road is 50mph.

The case was called yesterday at Dundee Justice of the Peace court. Griffiths did not attend and his lawyers wrote to the court entering a plea of not guilty on his behalf.
