Sturgeon dreams of dinner with Mr Darcy

Nicola Sturgeon has said she would like to have dinner with Mr Darcy – and thinks the character she is most like in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter novels is Ginny Weasley, who ends up marrying Harry.

The First Minister revealed her choices in a Twitter question-andanswer session yesterday arranged as part of Book Week Scotland.

She said the book with the greatest impact on her life was Sunset Song by Lewis Grassic Gibbon, and that crime writer Val Mcdermid’s character Karen Pirie was among her favourite female role models.

Her top choice for book of the year was The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne and she said her favourite genre was historical fiction, which she said was “entertainment and education all in one!”
