Asian jewellery targeted in housebreakings

-

High-valueasianjewellery and cash are being targeted in a series of housebreakings around Glasgow.

Police said there had been a “significant rise” in the crimes, which they believe are linked.

A total of 44 incidents have been reported in the west of Scotland since July, with more than £600,000 worth of cash and jewellery stolen.

Police said Asian jewellery was “particularly valuable” because the gold was expensive.

Most of the thefts have happened in the Newton Mearns and Robroyston areas.
