Sickening figures

-

Latest NHS Scotland performance figures show the worst performance to date since the targets were introduced in 2011. Patients are now waiting even longer for treatment in many parts of Scotland, with NHS Grampian performing worst with only 66.6 per cent of patients receiving treatment within the 18-week target.

With the usual bland response health secretary Shona Robinson says that things will get better, but time is running out for her as her credibility to handle the post is being questioned even by fellow SNP MSPS.

The core problem with NHS Scotland is staffing levels and funding which has now led to the closure of many hospital wards, making the overall performance of NHS Scotland even worse.

It is time to urgently review NHS funding and staff terms and conditions. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN
