Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO today booked a jump in revenues and profits, marking five consecutive years of growth.

The firm, which operates in 18 offices across the UK employing some 3,500 people, reported underlying revenues of £428 million – an increase of 5.7 per cent on a year earlier. Profits increased by 11 per cent to £87.6m.

Uk-wide, BDO appointed 25 new partners from other firms in the last financial year and promoted an additional 15 in July. These numbers included three new partners in Scotland.

The firm also promoted 1,175 people – about a third of its total UK headcount – and has just recruited a further 280 trainees into the business.

Martin Gill, lead partner for BDO in Scotland said: “The last year has been one of great success against a backdrop of change for the UK economy.

“Like many firms, we can say we’ve been investing heavily but, importantly, we’ve been investing in targeted areas that help our people and clients succeed. Technology and digitalisation are now part and parcel of our daily lives. However we are – and always will be – a people-powered business.”

Managing partner Paul Eagland, who was appointed to the top post in October 2016, added: “Brexit is without doubt at the top of the agenda for many. However, our clients are adaptable and have wasted no time in planning for scenarios, assess their supply chains and looking at the implications for their people.”

BDO said it advises about 23,000 clients in the UK. 0 Martin Gill – highlights a year of ‘great success’
