Capital beer firm cheers mega-order from China

- By SCOTT REID

Online bottle shop and craft drinks specialist Flavourly is importing more than 10,000 bottles of beer from China after striking a deal with craft brewer Panda Brew.

It is thought to be the first time that a Chinese craft beer brand has been brought into Scotland on this scale.

Edinburgh-based Flavourly said the beers would be going on sale via its website with several thousand of the bottles going into the company’s craft beer subscription boxes.

Chief executive David Moore, an Asia veteran who lived and worked in China during his time with Diageo, said: “Panda Brew is China’s leading craft brewer and we were very keen to import their beers.

“China is a massive market, and offers huge potential for Scottish brewers. Having a reciprocal import deal, where all parties mutually benefit, is a brilliant step forward for beer lovers in the UK and in China.

“We’re very keen to promote this two-way relationship with brewers and distributors in China.”
