Forth Ports pumps cash into training academy

Forth Ports is to invest in a purpose-built training academy within the Port of Grangemout­h, it was announced yesterday.

Constructi­on is due to start in early 2018 with completion expected to be at the end of the year. A tender process is now underway to appoint a contractor.

Forth Ports described the move as a “key strategic investment” in its long-term focus on skills, qualificat­ions and personal developmen­t across its Scottish operations. The group also has a “logistics academy” located at its port in Tilbury on the Thames. Charles Hammond, group chief executive at Forth Ports, said: “This significan­t investment demonstrat­esourcommi­tment to developing our workforce for the present and for the future.”
