Woman loses her fight for life after being hit by van

An 80-year old woman has died after being hit by a van in Inverclyde.

Police said Elizabeth Alexander, from Port Glasgow, died of her injuries after being hit by a blue Ford Transit van as it parked on Thursday last week.

The collision happened at 8:45am in the town’s Dubbs Road.

Ms Alexander was taken by ambulance to Greenock’s Inverclyde Royal Hospital where she was treated, but police say she died on Tuesday.

Police said a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
