Thomas goes on trial at Tannadice

- By CRAIG P STEWART

Dundee United’s recently-appointed manager Csaba Laszlo is set to run his eye over Burnley striker Jamie Thomas with a view to bringing the Welsh under-19 internationalist to Tannadice on loan.

The 20-year-old started his career at Bolton before heading for Turf Moor in the summer of 2016 on a two-year deal and he will join up with United next week on trial with a view to spending the rest of the season with Laszlo’s men if he impresses.

Thomas spent part of last season with Ayr United, but returned south after only seven appearances.

A Burnley spokesperson said: “Jamie has experience of international football at a number of levels with Wales as well as his time with Bolton and ourselves.”

“Unfortunately his time at Ayr did not work as they were part-time and it did not really suit any party. He has been invited up to Dundee United and we will see what happens next week.”
