Israeli funeral: Soldiers mourn fallen comrade

Comrades of Ron Yitzhak Kukia, a 19-year-old Israeli army sergeant who was murdered in the Israeli city of Arad last week, mourn during his funeral at the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery in Tel Aviv.

Ron Kukia was found dying after being stabbed near a bus stop in the southern city last week, but his attackers had fled the scene.

Arad mayor Nisan Benhemo described the incident as a “terror attack”. He said the city had previously been considered safe from conflict, adding that “reality slapped us in the face.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to bring the suspected terrorist to justice and to “continue to fight terrorism with all our might.”
