Joy for Reid as she lands 3 metre title

Grace Reid won the women’s 3 metre event at the Scottish National and Open Diving Championsh­ips yesterday at the Royal Commonweal­th Pool in Edinburgh, writes Gary Heatly.

Reid, who is from the capital but competes for Dive London Aquatics Club, coasted through the heats and she posted 288.35 points from her five dives in the final to finish top.

Millie Fowler and Sarah Leach, both from the City of Sheffield Diving Club, finished second and third.

In the men’s 10 metre event, Edinburgh Diving Club duo James Heatly and Lucas Thomson finished second and third.

Aidan Heslop, from Plymouth Diving, was first in the final with 393.15 points with Heatly posting 351.75 points and Thomson 348.15 points.

On Saturday, Gemma Mcarthur and Heatly won titles. In the women’s 10 metre event Mcarthur, who dives for the Southampto­n Diving Academy but is Scottish, came out on top, with Heatly victorious in the men’s 3 metre event.
