Three injured in head-on crash

Two adults and a child are in hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision in the Borders.

The two-car crash happened at about 4:20pm on Saturday on the A702 Edinburgh to Biggar Road in Carlops.

Police Scotland said a BMW 320 was travelling north when it collided with a Ford Ranger heading the other way.

The 34-year-old man driving the BMW was taken to Edin- burgh Royal Infirmary with a number of serious injuries. His condition is not thought to be life-threatenin­g.

The 57-year-old man behind the wheel of the Ford was taken to the same hospital with “extensive injuries” and is said to be in a serious condition.

An 11-year-old boy, a passenger in the Ford, was taken to the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh after suffering chest and abdomen injuries. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatenin­g. Anyone with informatio­n is asked to call 101.
