Advertised salaries inch higher north of the Border
Salaries in Scotland saw a steady increase last month, driven by its two largest cities, new data has revealed.
Cv-library, the independent job site, said average advertised salaries north of the Border registered a 0.9 per cent rise last month, compared with the month before.
Glasgow and Edinburgh saw increases of 3.9 per cent and 3 per cent respectively, both comfortably outpacing the UK average of 1.3 per cent.
Lee Biggins, managing director of Cv-library, said: “It’s positive to see that salaries are on the rise across Scotland, though it’s clear that it is not as widespread as hoped.
“With Christmas fast approaching, many businesses across the region will have been working hard to recruit for additional seasonal staff. Not only this, but in the run up to the New Year many organisations will be looking to boost their recruitment efforts ahead of the January rush.”
Job vacancies in Scotland saw an increase of 1.4 per cent year-on-year.
