Shops receive fake cash warning

A counterfei­t currency warning has been issued in St Andrews.

Police said that at around 1:30pm on Monday, a teenage male came to the Salvation Army in Church Street and tried to buy an item using a Bank of Ireland £20 note. The member of staff found the note to be fake. The male then left. At around 2pm on the same day, staff at The Cheesemong­er store contacted police after a male paid for goods using a fake Bank of Ireland £20 note. The suspect is described as white, between 14 and 17-yearsold, 5ft 6ins tall, with a slim build and gelled hair.
