#NAMEDPERSON
Nicola Sturgeon refused to ditch the Scottish Government’s controversial Named Person scheme when challenged at First Minister’s Questions. Tory MSP Finlay Carson @fincarson tweeted: “We should focus resource on those who actually need it, rather than having #Namedperson, which will introduce blanket interference for every family in Scotland.” @Bloodypolitics added: “Condemned and rejected at every level. And still @Johnswinney perseveres.” The Scottish Conseratives’ official Twitter account @Scottories wrote: “The #Namedperson policy is in tatters – and it’s only the First Minister and the Deputy First Minister who can’t see it.” @fellowhoodlums wrote: “I total approve of #namedperson policy by @ scotgov. It’s about vulnerable children and that’s the most important thing in all of this.”
#STORMCAROLINE
Severe gales and snow showers caused travel disruption, school closures and power cuts as Storm Caroline swept into Scotland, but it was a trampoline that grabbed the headlines. @Emzielangan wrote: “Only in Glasgow would there be train disruptions due to a trampoline on the line, I shouldn’t laugh but LOL” @superkelstar said: “Finally on the move from Glasgow, all @Virgintrains station staff were amazing in difficult circumstances” @derbigman tweeted: “So far #Stormcaroline has amounted to ‘a bit windy’ in Glasgow. Hear that the North of Scotland’s getting pure hammered though. Well jealous.” @Michaeljbawtree said: “The skies in Glasgow have gone from black to white via blue, green and yellow in the past hour. All we need now is some red and gold and #Stormcaroline will be proving very festive indeed”
#RANGERS
Rangers got the go-ahead to build a new training complex for their youth players. @Spatestonbear2 wrote: “Great to see that Rangers have been given permission to build the stand at Auchenhowie. Huge step forward for the club & for supporters wanting to watch the youth teams in action.” @Bearsfan1 tweeted: “Well done to all concerned not forgetting The Fighting Fund who donated generously to the project. Auchenhowie is now delivering young players to first team squad.”
