#SLEEPINTHEPARK

On a night when the temperatures dropped to -7C, thousands of people slept in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens. The event aimed to raise £4 million and awareness of homelessness. @Amy_macdonald said: “It was an absolute pleasure to perform at ‘Sleep in the Park’ with 9000 amazing fundraisers! I particularly liked being called Meghan Markle by Sir Bob Geldof!” @helen_a15 added: “I’ve been told by people who have actually slept rough that it’s patronising that ‘sleeping rough for a night’ is used as a money maker.” @Socialbite_ said: “Good morning #Sleepinthepark. As we go home to our warm beds, it’s important we don’t lose sight of the fact that what was a night in the cold for us is STILL the everyday reality for hundreds currently sleeping rough throughout Scotland. Thanks to you, this reality is changing.”

#BREXIT

Brexit Secretary David Davis confirmed on the Andrew Marr Show that the initial cost of leaving the European Union will be between £35 billionn and £39 billion. He also said that the money was contingent on a trade deal with the EU. @Len_day said: “So the EU will get their money anyway by slapping massive tariffs on our exports to them. It’s insanity after insanity and inanity after inanity with this government.” @Elginmorayscot added: “EU/UK agree exit terms to allow discussions to open on trade. Within days the UK govt say they won’t pay unless they like the trade deal. So much for Great Britain having any credibility.”

#SANTARUN

Thousands of Santas dashed around Glasgow to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity. A record 8,500 runners braved the chilly temperatures to take on the 5km city centre course. @Scottsmcg10 said: “Completed my first Santa Dash today. After two hot chocolates, a soak in a Radox bath and a few hours later, I’m starting to feel my knees defrost. On well... it’s all for charity.” @Lordprovostgcc added: “Cute pooches and the police in the #Glasgowlovesxmas spirit at the Santa Dash. Great fun for charity.”
