Murty hopes fans will stop questioning Ibrox players
Interim manager Graeme Murty hopes Rangers supporterswillcuthisplayersa bit of slack after they finally managed to win three league games on the spin.
Rangers had to come from behind to see off Ross County at Ibrox on Saturday but Danny Wilson’s winner meant Murty’s team achieved something in 2017 that both Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha’s sides couldn’t: winning three Premiership matches in a row.
Murty hopes the gritty nature of the second-half performance, combined with the display of character shown during their home and away wins over Aberdeen last week, will at least convince the fans to get off his players’ backs.
“It will [help the crowd keep faith with the team] because the players have been questioned,” said the interim boss, who will keep the reins until at least the end of the year.
“Everything about the club has been questioned recently by the fans. But the players managed to get over that hump. We’ve shown we can handle it now, the boys can go on and get the win, and hopefully as well as the crowd getting a bit of faith, the players are starting to get a bit of faith in themselves.”
