Monteith’s maths
Brian Monteith’s article (‘Brexit agreement is a sham to save the PM’, Scotsman, December 11) was interesting, except for his puzzling attack on the SNP.
He says: ‘Maybe if the SNP had spent more money campaigning on the EU referendum than it did for a parliamentary by-election in Glenrothes the First Minister might have earned some credibility.’
Brian Monteith should explain how, if in the EU referendum Scotland voted 62 per cent to remain with 38 per cent to leave, what difference would it have made to the UK Government ignoring the wishes of the majority in Scotland had the vote been even higher?
