#DOUGJONES

Doug Jones became the first Democrat in 25 years to win a US Senate seat for the state of Alabama, defeating Republican Roy Moore. @Gdouglasjones exclaimed: “Thank you ALABAMA!!” @realdonaldtrump tweeted: “Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!” @Hillaryclinton cheered: “Tonight, Alabama voters elected a senator who’ll make them proud. And if Democrats can win in Alabama, we can – and must – compete everywhere. Onward!” @Johnkasich said: “Thankfully, today enough Republicans chose country over party.”

#PETERKAY

In a statement, comedian Peter Kay said he would have to cancel all of his upcoming work projects, including his stand-up tour due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’. @jess_denham tweeted: “Entertainers do not cancel 100 tour dates without good reason. The big bucks aside, they hate letting down their fans. Sending @peterkay_ co_uk best wishes for whatever he and his family are going through.” @alanmehdizadeh said: “For this man to cancel everything, he must have had no other choice. Very sad day for a truly hilarious man.” @sammwmc added: “Family always comes first. No question. Much love to you sir & to your loved ones. The world can wait.” @Zohrajawed was confused by all the fuss: “I guess I’m not British enough yet to know what a Peter Kay is.”

#EUSTON

Euston Station in central London will open its doors to 200 homeless people on Christmas Day to offer them dinner and a place to sleep. @Shaunbaileyuk praised the move: “This is what Christmas should be about. Huge respect for Euston Station and the charities involved.” @Thehoodedclaw66 pointed out: “So one day of the year Euston will feed the homeless. The other 364 days they use the police to move them on.”
