The New York Knicks snatched an overtime win in a closely-fought match against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks looked to have taken the momentum in a back-and-forth game late in the fourth quarter but the Lakers answered as Kyle Kuzma hit a three-pointer with 23.9 seconds to go. It was left to Michael Beasley and Doug Mcdermott to help power New York to a 113-109 win during overtime. Lebron James tied a career high of 17 assists in the Cleveland Cavalier’s 123-114 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, the side’s 15th win in 16 games. The Cavs drilled 20 three-pointers during the game, their record for the season, and extended their string of games with at least 10 threepoint­ers to 18 straight. In Minneapoli­s, the Philadelph­ia 76ers outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolv­es in OT, winning 118-112. Joel Embiid had 28 points, 12 rebounds, and a career high eight assists, with his three-pointer in overtime helping to seal the victory. Harrison Barnes led the way for the Dallas Mavericks in their 95-89 defeat of state rivals the San Antonio Spurs. Rohit Sharma’s third one-day internatio­nal double hundred propelled India to a series-levelling 141-run victory over Sri Lanka in Mohali. The New Jersey Devils snapped the longest winning streak in the NHL this season by beating the Los Angeles Kings 5-1. Travis Zajac, Brian Boyle and Brian Gibbons also netted, while goaltender Cory Schneider made 16 saves to help put the Devils on top after defeats in their previous two games. A match-up between the league’s top two teams ended in victory for the Tampa Bay Lightning. They toppled the St Louis Blues 3-0, with Andrei Vasilevski­y making an impressive 32 saves for his third shutout of the season. Brayden Point put the Lightning on the scoreboard with 45 seconds left in the first period before Nikita Kucherov made it 2-0 with his 21st goal in the third period. Tyler Johnson consolidat­ed the lead by scoring into an empty net with 22 seconds remaining. Meanwhile, John Carlson broke his goalscorin­g drought by netting his first goal in 15 games during the Washington Capitals’ 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche, and Patrick Kane scored 2:24 into overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 3-2 win against the Florida Panthers. Goals came thick and fast for the Edmonton Oilers, who defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-2, while the Buffalo Sabres won 3-2 to hand the Ottawa Senators their fifth straight loss.
