#SCOTLANDBUDGET
Finance Secretary Derek Mackay announced radical reform of the levy in his budget with income tax rises for Scots earning a certain amount the big talking point. @Anastasios_vou suggested: “Before the usual suspects kick off about the tax rises in the budget, please remember that most people will pay no more tax than they do now – as the median salary in Scotland is £24,000. A modest rise for those who can, is not a bad thing at all.” @Phbakers fumed: “If I were a doctor and paying 40% income tax I’d be quitting my job and working somewhere where I had no pressure. The income tax rates are a pure joke.” @dhothersall offered: “What do you call a #Scottishbudget that finally bites the bullet on using tax powers but fails to achieve significant new revenues from them, and therefore still delivers a real-terms cut of over £130m to councils meaning catastrophic cuts to vital services? A bloody disgrace.” @Grayinglasgow cheered: “Confirmed: Scottish private schools will lose their NDR tax avoidance rights. Closing this loophole has been proposed over & over in 18 years of devolution. Good to hear it’s finally being closed.” @MJW1876 said: “#Scotbudget One of my daughters will pay less income tax, one will likely stay the same, I’ll possibly pay more and my wife will be in line for a 3% pay rise. Pretty bloody fair in my book. Well done @scotgov. Forward thinking and working for Scotland.”
#STARWARS
Fans of the hit movies had their say on the latest instalment of the franchise after advance screenings, while others speculated wildly. @gatodario tweeted: “The best of #Thelastjedi was the music. The worst, by far, was the plot. Coming from a diehard fan.” @Harmarsuperstar shared: “I heard #Thelastjedi is just super cut of Star Wars bloopers to George Michael’s ‘Last Christmas’. Supposed to be pretty good.” @mitchwdavis offered: “Had Star Wars spoiled for me. Can’t believe Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time.” @heeeeyimemilee posted: “NASA confirmed there will be a screening of The Last Jedi in space.. how does one get involved in this”
