Shrek The Musical

- Joyce Mcmillan

The hero is an ugly green ogre who prefers his own company, the heroine, Fiona, is a beautiful princess whose happy ending involves becoming a contented ogress, and the whole show represents such a radical improvement on the usual Disney stereotype of handsome princes and wasp-waisted teenage princesses, that this fine, good-hearted touring stage version – with clever design and hilarious merchandise – is hard to resist. Stefan Harri plays Shrek and Aberdeen-born Laura Main of Call The Midwife is Fiona, in a show already seen by over 800,000 people on its first UK tour, and set to offer one of the jolliest family shows of a sparkling Christmas season. Playhouse, Edinburgh, until 7 January, 0844 871 3014
