£50m award for land management

Almost £50 million is being invested in the rural economy to promote good land management practices.

The Agri-environmen­t Climate Change Scheme (AECS) 2017 has awarded £47.7mto 801 projects over the next five years. It aims to protect and enhance Scotland’s natural heritage, improve water quality, manage flood risk, and help agricultur­al businesses adapt to global warming.

Since it was launched in 2014, AECS has committed £99m to 1,417 businesses.
