Card campaigner­s: Union hands MSPS Chistmas greetings containing demands for improved NHS pay

Members of the union Unison hand in 5,000 “fair pay” Christmas cards to health secretary Shona Robison and other MSPS outside the Scottish Parliament as part of their campaign to improve NHS wages. The union is seeking £800 for every work er “to start to recoup the losses from a decade of pay cuts”, wage increases of 3.9 per cent or the RPI inflation rate across the health service, and a living wage for healthcare students. A spokespers­on said: “NHS staff need a firm commitment from gov ernment to negotiate with Unison and secure a fair pay deal.”
