May denies knowledge of Green porn claims
Theresa May has said the first she knew about allegations of inappropriate conduct by former Cabinet minister Damian Green was when she read about them in the press.
Conservative activist Kate Maltby has said she alerted Downing Street last year to Mr Green’s “pattern of behaviour”.
However, the Prime Minister yesterday said she had not been informed of those claims.
“The first I learned of these allegations was when Kate Maltby wrote about them in The Times,” Mrs May said.
The allegations triggered a Cabinet Office probe into Mr Green’s conduct. The former First Secretary of State was sacked on Wednesday for making “misleading” statements about allegations that police found pornography on his office computer.
