Acne treatment is pure ‘gold dust’
Acne patients are being asked to test a “pioneering” treatment that aims to cure their spots with gold dust.
Scientists are looking for 50 participants of all ages for the evaluation trial which will test the new therapy, called Sebacia. The treatment, which is already approved in the US, involves massaging a cream containing tiny particles of solid gold into skin pores.
A low power laser is then used to heat up the dust particles and reduce inflammation, hopefully causing spots to disappear over a few days.
