Air mail: Famous aircraft to celebrate centenary of the Royal Air Force in new stamps
The Vulcan B2, the world’s first delta wing bomber, is among six iconic British aircraft to be featured on stamps to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Royal Air Force next year. The set of ten in the RAF centenary series, to be issued in March, also include four of the Red Arrows aeronautic team. Other “Best of British” stamps will include the 50th anniversary of BBC com edy Dad’s Army with eight stamps of its much-loved characters. The work of scientists and conservationists who have reintro duced once-extinct species will also be depicted on new stamps, including the osprey and large blue butterfly.
