Scottish Power to axe 200 UK jobs

Scottish Power is set to slash up to 200 jobs next year.

The energy company is based in Glasgow, with more than half of its 6,500 UK employees working in Scotland.

The firm announced a voluntary redundancy scheme would be open to staff across all of its British businesses.

It is yet to be confirmed how many jobs will be lost north of the border.

A Scottish Power spokesman said initial consultations had been started with trade unions and employee representatives.
