#NATURE
Amid icy conditions in Scotland, the Premiership match between Hamilton Accies and Kilmarnock was called off. However, fans were taken aback by the dramatic language used by the club to describe the weather conditions. @Kittycarrot said: “Certainly a lot of creativity in the Accies’ statement “swept away by nature”. @benson76 added: “I’m sorry officer, I wasn’t really speeding. I was merely swept away by nature.” @besottedscot said: “Isn’t the fact these pitches are supposed to be weather resistant the only positive aspect of having one?”
#TRUMP
The Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Reverend Paul Bayes, has condemned conservative evangelical Christians for their “uncritical support” of United States president Donald Trump. @Hutton_mc said: “So the Bishop of Liverpool criticises Trump’s Christian supporters - at last someone in authority in the Church speaks out.” @Hadleyfreeman added: “My hope for 2018 is more religious leaders, especially in America, find the courage of Paul Bayes and state the obvious about Trump and the so-called ‘religious’ right.” @Deboramorf said: “Now think of other populists that would align themselves and recognise there are extremists across all faiths who stray from the core principles.”
#QUIETDAY
Some people have had to head back to the office between Christmas and Hogmanay. But office workers are finding plenty of things to keep them occupied and get more work done. Chocolate at the desk, the radio on. It could be a lot worse being back at work before everyone else. @Shadowmarinaa said: “No boss in the office, radio playing, chocolate at my desk, practically everybody having a few days off so it’s pretty quiet... Such a nice day!” @Mret_vdcolff added: “Benefit of working this time of year when everybody else is on holiday. Peace and quiet in the office = being able to catch up on the backlog #Positive Attitude.” @Winnmatthew said: “Wonderfully quiet in the office today. That delete button is getting plenty of use. My inbox is shrinking.”
