Boris ‘concerned’ over Iran protests
Boris Johnson has voiced concerns about the threat of a clampdown on protests in Iran, saying citizens must have the right to demonstrate peacefully.
Two protesters have been killed at an anti-government rally and access to messaging apps has been blocked as a wave of protests swept Iran.
Mr Johnson, who visited Tehran earlier this month, said he was “watching events with concern”. The Foreign Secretary tweeted: “Vital that citizens should have the right to demonstrate peacefully.”
