Arrests after four young men die in series of stabbing across London

Twoteenage­rswereamon­g four people stabbed to death in a series of apparently unrelated attacks across London across 24 hours as the new year was celebrated.

Scotland Yard confirmed the male victims – a 17-year-old, 18-yearold and a 20-year-old on New Year’s Eve as well as a 20-year-old in the early hours of Monday – all died as a result of their injuries.

A fifth man is in a critical condition after an incident yesterday.

Five men have been arrested in connection with one of the deaths.

Sunday’s stabbings took place in various locations, with the incidents occurring at Enfield, West Ham and Tulse Hill. The New Year’s Day stabbing occurred in Old Street.

Metropolit­an Police Commander Neil Jerome said the incidents were not connected.

He added: “There were small groups who chose to engage in disorder and violence and whose actions have had utterly tragic consequenc­es.

“It is heart breaking that at a time when so many of us are contemplat­ing what lies ahead in 2018, four families are dealing with the grief of losing a loved one to senseless violence.”
