Zoo closes to allow monkeys to ‘mourn’
A zoo has closed for four days to allow monkeys to mourn the death of one of their young.
Staff at Camperdown Wildlife Centre in Dundee said the lion-tailed macaques traditionally needed time to grieve as they “guard and preen” the body of a young monkey that died on Friday.
A troop of 11 endangered macaques arrived at the end of October and have proven an instant hit with visitors.
