Campaigners call to protect ‘jewels of the sea’

Urgent action is needed to fully protect the “jewels of Scotland’s seas”, conservationists have said.

WWF Scotland, the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT) and a leading marine research scientist are calling on the Scottish Government to complete the network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAS) to safeguard the habitats.

The MPA network covers approximately 20 per cent of Scotland’s seas.
