Gunn hits target
Kirsty Gunn’s article on the Perspective page (1 January 1) re: the importance of Post Offices hits the nail on the head. She writes: “Pray that Post Offices stay open and there is always a person, not a machine, to give you stamps and talk to you about how long the parcel will take to reach New Zealand.”
Not everyone wants to pick up a telephone and be asked to press a number to get an answer to a question. Sadly, so many business shops across the country no longer exist.
All that many people want is a person behind the counter to give the customer an answer, not an automated voice.
