Hamilton Accies Spoke too soon

- Gilbert Mowat

Just as the whistle blew on Saturday, I mentioned to a friend that it had been great; an away win over Motherwell, some nice goals, no red cards and no rammy on the park. Then Trevor Carson confronted Dougie Imrie, who was then flattened by Peter Hartley. There was then the usual pushing and shoving and an excuse for the media to criticise Accies again. Had we started it they might have a point, but this was all instigated by Motherwell players. It felt like an attempt to provoke us into further trouble.

It deflected attention from our good battling display that included some great goals. We were fortunate with a penalty that ought to have been given against Greg Docherty but otherwise there can’t be any complaints from Motherwell. They simply lost to the better team on the day.
