SPFL kicks off new year with legal team change
The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) has appointed a new team of inhouse and external legal advisers.
The move follows the announcement that Rod Mckenzie is retiring from legal firm Harper Macleod but continuing in the law. The SPFL said it had conducted an extensive tender process to identify and appoint future legal advisers.
As a result, Mckenzie has been appointed as legal counsel, joining the league in a parttime, in-house capacity.
The SPFL has also appointed four firms of solicitors to create a panel of external legal advisors, each of which will deliver specialist expertise. The panel will consist of Brabners, Fladgate, Gunnercooke and Shepherd and Wedderburn.
Mckenzie said: “When I was retiring from Harper Macleod it was of importance to me to continue my relationship of almost 20 years with the SPL/ SPFL.”
