Man’s death being treated as murder

A murder investigation has begun after an assault victim who was found injured in a Dundee street died.

The man has been named as 50-year-old John Watt from Dundee.

Police said three males aged 15, 16 and 17 had been detained in connection with the death and that inquiries were continuing.

Mr Watt was discovered with a serious head injury in Albert Street at 3:55am yesterday. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Patrick said : “We can confirm that Mr Watt passed away early this evening in hospital and our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
