Holy man feeds gulls on sacred rivers as Hindus gather for Magh Mela

A Hindu holy man feeds Siberian seagulls at the “Sangam” – the meeting-point of the Indian holy rivers the Ganges and the Yamuna – during the annual traditiona­l fair of Magh Mela in the city of Allahabadi­nindia yesterday.

Some hundreds of thousands of devout Hindus are expected to take holy dips at the confluence during the astronomic­ally auspicious period of over 45 days which is celebrated as Magh Mela.
