0 Sir Andy Murray last year continued to invest via Seedrs, further diversifying his portfolio Crowdfunding platform Seedrs, whose backers include tennis champion Sir Andy Murray, has reported record investment and deals in 2017.
It said £125 million was invested into campaigns, a year-on-year jump of 44 per cent and more than any other private equity platform, while almost 170 deals were funded.
Murray undertook more than ten investments through the platform in the year, bringing his Seedrs portfolio to more than 25. Such additions include UK tech start-up Goodbox that is focused on giving to charity.
The Seedrs Secondary Market was launched in June on the back of growing demand for liquidity, while Seedrs closed its own £10m funding round led by star fund manager Neil Woodford.
The platform, which has also worked with Scots tech firm Freeagent, forecast for 2018 that post-brexit, the UK will see deepening interest and investment into building key hubs and entrepreneur skills in places such as Edinburgh.
