#ANDYMURRAY

Andy Murray has undergone hip surgery in Melbourne and says he hopes to be playing again in time for this summer’s grass-court season. The former world number one has not played a competitive match since he was knocked out of Wimbledon in July. @Nicolasturgeon said: “What a guy. I’m sure we all wish @andy_murray the speediest of recoveries and look forward to seeing him back – and winning – on the tennis court soon.” @hajrarahim commented: “Andy Murray undergoes hip surgery in Australia but remains hopeful of return in time for Wimbledon – thank god. I almost had a breakdown last week thinking he was going to retire.” @Plushiies added: “I can’t believe we won’t see him before Wimbledon, at least. It’s in such a long time. But take care @andy_murray please.”

#TRUMPTOWER

Firefighters were called to the landmark New York skyscraper owned by Donald Trump after smoke was spotted billowing from the roof. Two people suffered minor injuries while tackling the small blaze, which caused no damage inside the well-known building. @Ohnoshetwitnt joked: “Breaking: The blaze at Trump Tower was reportedly caused by the president’s pants which are frequently, if not always, on fire.” @Sartorialthug offered: “That isn’t a fire at Trump Tower. It’s just Donald declaring himself the new Pope.” @Donaldjorwell added: “If NYFD responded to the fire at Trump Tower by saying ‘Fake News!’ and hanging up, that would be a pretty good representation of how the federal government has been run for the last year.” @Alt_fedemployee commented: “Trump Tower on fire seems a pretty good metaphor for 2018.”

#CABINETRESHUFFLE

Theresa May faced embarrassment before her Cabinet reshuffle had even begun after the Conservatives mistakenly announced Chris Grayling as the new chairman of the party. @Wikiguido said: “Told a CCHQ staffer saw the BBC had confirmed Chris Grayling’s appointment and tweeted it out assuming the reports were correct.” @Iandunt joked: “Quick reminder: There is no question to which ‘Chris Grayling’ is the answer.”
