Trump’s delusion

-

President Trump has con- fessed to being “a very stable genius”. Are we all suitably impressed?

Unfortunately for President Trump and the rest of humanity, wisdom is not one of his attributes. We may be smart, but must recognise that we are ignorant of certain crucial skills, knowledge and experience – this equals “wisdom”. Here the ability to delegate arises.

This absence of wisdom on Trump’s part leads to the nonfilling of many government executive and non-executive jobs since the start of his presidency. The reason – rather than make a series of “bad” decisions, adversely effecting his self-image as an infallible, great leader, he does nothing.

Trump’s obsessive need to be always in the right stifles initiative in many high and low levels of government. Rather than thinking about how well he can perform to satisfy the citizens his high office requires him to look after, he is always looking over his shoulder to Trump HQ. What will they think? Thus the latter becomes more important than the former.

This stifling of initiative etc creates a climate of paranoia. An honest mistake by some government appointee is seen through Trump’s eyes as a betrayal or part of a conspiracy against him and his ruling clique of sycophants and must be dealt with harshly.

So, God help America, and God help us all.
