Woman jailed for stabbing mother to death in street

A woman was jailed yesterday for five and a half years for stabbing a mother to death in a street attack.

Siobhan Russell armed herself with a knife before attacking Marie Low in Ballantrae Terrace, Dundee.

Ms Low, 36, died after Russell inflicted a single knife wound to her body during the assault on 4 September 2016.

Russell, 31, was originally charged with murder but was earlier convicted of the reduced charge of culpable homicide.

A jury found her guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh.
