Prime Minister Theresa May was forced to make an embarrassing apology after questioning the absence of shadow education secretary Angela Rayner from Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday. She was told Ms Rayner was undergoing medical treatment. @Isabelhardman said: “Oh jeez, now May has had to apologise for mocking Angela Rayner for not being at PMQS when she is in fact having medical treatment.” @Wikiguido added: “May attempting to zing Rayner then having to apologise after learning she’s undergoing hospital treatment pretty much sums it up.” @thomasmessenger noted: “The Prime Minister attacking Angela Rayner for not turning up to PMQS, only to have to apologise after learning she is in hospital, really does take the biscuit.”

Shares in photo firm Eastman Kodak soared nearly 120 per cent after the company yesterday revealed plans to mint its own cryptocurrency, the Kodakcoin. @Johnarnoldfndtn bemoaned: “Not sure which is worse: watching Kodak, once an industry titan, resort to short term gimmick of launching a cryptocurrency or seeing the stock market reward it with 117 per cent price increase today as a result.” @rozzyrozmclean responded: “I feel like this company went from zero to 100 real quick when it comes to technology adaptation… #Kodak #Crypto.”
#PLASTICTAX
Theresa May has declared war on the UK’S “throwaway culture” by demanding the 5p levy on plastic bags is extended from supermarkets to all shops. @nick_clegg claimed: “When I announced a plastic bag tax in 2013, there was great opposition from the Conservative Party and business groups. Now everyone is clamouring for it to be extended to all shops. Progress!” @sallywilts stressed: “Why not ban them completely? Plastic bags aren’t necessary. Paper works just as well and is biodegradable.” @jess_denham declared: “Yes, and as the microbeads ban shows, consumers have a lot of power when we pull our collective heads out of the sand and put our minds to change. So I’m tentatively optimistic.”
