Finance Secretary Derek Mackay wants Westminster to ensure hundreds of thousands of married Scots don’t lose out on a £260 tax break as a result of his budget

-

John Swinney, among others in the SNP, made constant requests for Holyrood to be given the necessary levers to activate the Scottish economy. They could run the economy without any help from Westminster. Indeed, they were going to show that they, not Westminster, had the true interests of the people of Scotland at heart. – World Wide Football Fan It never ceases to amaze me how the SNP continually mess things up but then immediately adopt the “blame Westminster” mode, and act as though they were the victims of some sort of conspiracy. There is NEVER any degree of contrition whatsoever from those who made the mistake. – Esox Hunter The UK Government will take each and every opportunity they get to do down Scotland. Backed, of course, by Ross Thomson, Douglas Ross and the other useless Tory lobby fodder from the “Scottish” Conservatives. – Matthew Vallance All he had to do was find ways of wasting £160m each year, instead of robbing lowpaid married couples. – Slowman
