I was surprised at your Editorial (“Fracking will not be settled in the courts”, 10 January), suggesting public opinion is more important that legal outcome. If the case against fracking is upheld to be unlawful, then that means that the decision taken by our Scottish Parliament was unlawful, on whatever grounds. You also suggest that “we have a problem if a judge overrides the “will of the people”. What this effectivel­y encourages is mob rule. If people can enforce unlawful decisions in one area, they can enforce them in others as well,
